Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College men's soccer team took a break from its Liberty League schedule to post a 6-0 win over Southern Vermont College, Wednesday night at Wachenheim Field.
The Thoroughbreds improve to 6-3-2, while the Mountaineers fall to 2-8-1.
Six different players scored in the balanced attack. Three of Skidmore's four second-half goals came from non-starters.
Matt Kelsey (Cambridge, Mass.) got things started with his team-high fourth goal of the season when a Southern Vermont defender mishandled his shot at 8:11.
Kevin Regan (Chevy Chase, Md.) made it 2-0 at 21:52 when he fired a shot past the SVC keeper from 25-yards out.
Diego Reinero (Princeton, N.J.) assisted.
In the second half, Reinero started a run of four Skidmore goals in the game's final 19 minutes when he converted a well-place pass from
Mark Roseboom to make it 3-0 at 71:38.
Pat Wildes (Hamden, Conn.) scored from
Taylor Alderson (Berkeley, Calif.) three minutes later at 74:41 for a 4-0 lead.
Mark Jensen (Cambridge, Mass.) made it 5-0 at 85:22 and
Ernie Economides (Bournedale, Mass.) converted a penalty kick for the sixth goal at 88:04.
Nick Peterson (West Hartford, Conn.) and
Lucas Millington (Chatham Center, N.Y.) combined for the shutout. Peterson had two saves both in the first half. Skidmore out shot the Mountaineers 33-2 overall and 18-0 in the second half.
The Thoroughbreds are at Castleton State on Oct. 4.
