William Smith beats Skidmore in OT

Geneva, N.Y.-- Kaitlyn Hamilton scored off a corner 1:11 into overtime to lead William Smith to a 2-1 win over Skidmore College in the Liberty League field hockey championship game.
 
The win was the Heron's second overtime win of the season over the Thoroughbreds.
 
Skidmore (13-5) will await word on a possible NCAA at-large invitation when the tournament field is announced late Sunday night. William Smith (15-4) gets the league's automatic bid.
 
Shaila DeLea (Cornish, Maine) gave Skidmore a 1-0 lead at 28:29 of the first half. DeLea's team-high 13th goal of the season came on a backhand shot of a William Smith deflection.
 
The teams played even late into the second half until Jamie Tucciarone tied it for the Herons on a rebound with 11:30 to play in regulation to force the overtime.. 
 
Skidmore freshman goalie Liz Cantinella (Sudbury, Mass.) had an outstanding, keeping the Thoroughbreds in the game with several big saves.  She finished with nine, including five in the second half.
