Skidmore beats Plattsburgh, 2-0

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team lost its regular-season finale 2-0 Saturday afternoon over visiting Skidmore in non-conference action at the Fieldhouse Complex, losing just their second game at home this season.

The Cardinals drop to 14-3-1 overall heading into the State University of New York Athletic Conference Tournament, which starts Tuesday. The Thoroughbreds won their fourth straight to improve to 11-5-2.

Sophomore Jennifer Hibbard scored Skidmore's first goal in the 17th minute. Classmate Abbey Sumas assisted on the goal. Junior Rachael Sushner tallied her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 23rd minute off a pass from senior Sarah Russell-Smith.

The Thoroughbreds had a slight 8-6 shot advantage for the game, but the Cardinals finished with a 8-2 edge in corner kicks.

Skidmore will play William Smith in the Liberty League semifinals on Friday.
