Nick Tong stormed back to tie the match at seven all. The Beacons broke the Thoroughbreds' next serve, but the Skidmore duo returned the favor to force the tiebreak evening the score at eight.

Serving first Skidmore collected the first point, but the Beacons took the next two. Another point from Skidmore tied it at two, before Lai and Loyer ripped off four straight points to take a 6-2 lead. An ace by Skidmore's Kit Green-Sanderson narrowed the score to 6-3, before Loyer ended the match with a drop shot from his right to the left side of the court.
