Loutsenko wins ITA singles championship

Ithaca, N.Y. - Skidmore junior Oliver Loutsenko won the 2012 USTA/ITA Men's Tennis Individual Championship at Ithaca College.

With the win, Loutsenko earns All-American honors, becoming the first player in program history to earn All-American honors at singles. He also advances to the USTA/ITA Small College Championships in Moblie, Alabama from Oct. 11-14. He will compete against the seven other regional winners.

In the final, Loutsenko defeated defending champion Yevgeny Perepelov of Hunter 6-2, 5-7, 7-5. Loutsenko and Perepelov met in last year's final at Skidmore, with Perepelov earning the victory.

After advancing to the round of 16, Loutsenko made quick work of his competition in the quarterfinals and semifinals. He was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over TJ Riley of TCNJ before defeating Vassar's Andrew Guzick 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the final.
