Ithaca, N.Y. - After day one, the Skidmore College men's tennis team has advanced two singles players to the round of 16 and two doubles teams to the final 16.
Junior
Oliver Loutsenko and sophomore
Miles Ransom remain in the hunt for the singles championship after cruising through the first two rounds. Loutsenko, the No. 2 seed in the tournament was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Michael Fields of Hobart in the first round and a 6-1, 6-2 winner against Hamilton's Matt Billet in the round of 32. Loutsenko will face off against Shota Tasaki of Stevens with a chance to advance to the quarterfinals.
Ransom earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over Vassar's Josh Kessler before defeating Howard Telson of TCNJ in the second round, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. Ransom takes on Chris Rosensteel of Stevens in the third round. All six of Skidmore's individual players advanced to the second round including
Gabe Steerman,
Alec Hoblitzell,
Danny Knight and Kit Green-Sanderson.
In doubles action, the teams of Green-Sanderson and
Nick Tong as well as Hoblitzell and
Jonah Epstein advanced to the second round. Green-Sanderson and Tong will face Hunter Lathrop and Raul Smego of Drew in the round of 16, while Epstein and Hoblitzell will take on Paul Barrett and Spiker Hayden of St. Lawrence.
