Middlebury, Vt. - The Skidmore College men's tennis team opened its fall season with a strong showing at the Middlebury Invitational.
Sophomore
Alec Hoblitzell and freshman Kit Green-Sanderson won their respective flights, while other Thoroughbreds put together strong performances in singles and doubles action.
Hoblitzell won the B singles flight, defeating Musyoka Mbithi of Trinity 7-6 (2), 6-2 in the finals. He didn't drop a set in the flight as he defeated Peter Yanofsky of Bates, Ford Traff of Trinity and Andrew Lutz of Tufts on his way to the victory.
Green-Sanderson won D singles flight, defeating Matthew Zuckerman of Brandeis, Dave Myers of Trinity and Christian Phelps of Vassar before earning a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Trinity's Cam Smith in the final.
In the doubles B flight,
Nick Tong and Green-Sanderson reached the final before falling to Henry Lee and Pierre Planche 8-4.
Skidmore returns to action on Saturday at Trinity (CT).
