Saratoga Springs, N.Y. -- The 6th ranked St. Lawrence University women's varsity 8 edged 12th ranked Skidmore in the Liberty League Championships held Saturday on Fish Creek. Hobart won claimed the men's championship with a decisive win over St. Lawrence in the varsity 8.

For the women, both St. Lawrence and Skidmore easily won their heats to advance to the final. In the final featured three nationally ranked crews with the Saints finishing first in 7:21.0. Skidmore was second in 7:29.4, Vassar third in 7:36.3, and 14th ranked William Smith was fourth in 7:37.4. The Thoroughbred boat consisted of coxswain Katie Kenny, Elissa Nadworny, Maddie Demanche, Rachel Hutchins, Libby Gronquist, Dani VanDevoorde, Riley Johnson, Jenny Kauffman, and Korena Burgio.

Hobart won the men's race in 6:15.0, well ahead of SLU (6:34.1). Vassar was third (6:40.8) and Union fourth (6:49.1).

Skidmore's men's varsity four finished second to Hobart.

The Thoroughbreds will compete in the New York Championships May 1-2 in Whitney Point, N.Y.
