Skidmore wins Liberty League Golf Championship by 33 strokes

Canton, N.Y.-- It wasn't even close as the Skidmore College golf team blew away the field to win the Liberty League Golf Championship by 33 strokes.

All five Skidmore College players shot par or better in Sunday's final
round of the 36-hole Liberty League Men's Golf Championships at the St.
Lawrence University Golf Course.

Skidmore's four-man total on Sunday was a 281, seven strokes under par
and the Thoroughbreds finished with a two-day total of 573, 33 strokes
better than second place St. Lawrence which finished with a 606 total.
Rochester was third at 613 followed by Rensselaer at 622, Hobart at 633,
Clarkson at 642 and the US Merchant Marine Academy at 729.

Skidmore sophomore Peter Anderson shot the low round of the tournament
with a 68 on Sunday and shared the tournament medalist honors and
Liberty League Player of the Year title with senior teammate Chris
DeJohn, who shot back-to-back rounds of 71 as both players finished at
142. Joseph Flowers shot 73-70 for a 143 total and was the third overall
finisher and Matt Canavan completed a sweep of the top four spots in the
team standings, shooting 74-72 for a 146 total. Sam Dasilva, Skidmore's
fifth golfer, shot 77-72 and finished at 149, tied for seventh.

The quartet of Skidmore players were joined on the Liberty League first
team all star team by St. Lawrence senior Ben von Reyn, who shot 72-75
for a 147 total and Eric Fritz of RPI, who shot 73-74 to tie von Reyn
for fifth.

Skidmore will continue the fall season next weekend at Duke University for the Gordin Invitational.
