SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College athletic department recognized 106 student athletes as members of the Thoroughbred Society in a ceremony held Feb. 10, 2016 at the Williamson Sports Center.

The group of students includes 13 student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA in the Fall 2015 semester. The field hockey and riding teams had 3.64 team GPAs. Skidmore athletes as a group had an overall GPA of 3.358.

The Thoroughbred Society was created to honor student-athletes who achieve a 3.67 GPA or higher during each calendar semester. It also honors teams who compile a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
 
Featured speakers were senior Shelby Hanlon from women's soccer and sophomore Ian Maag from men's lacrosse. The pair shared their student-athlete experiences with athletes, faculty, and staff who attended the biannual event.
