Field hockey places five on Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region Teams

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Five Skidmore College field hockey players were selected to the 2009 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region Teams.
 
The Thoroughbreds finished with a 17-4 record while winning their second straight Liberty League championship and making the fifth NCAA quarterfinals appearance in school history.
 
Junior Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) earned her second consecutive first team all-region selection. Kemp was named the Liberty League Player of the Year for the second straight year and was a unanimous All-Liberty League First Team selection. She tallied 19 goals and 17 assists for 55 points and led the Liberty League in both points and assists while ranking in the top five in NCAA in assists per game.
 
Senior Elise Britt (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) earned first team all-region honors after being a second team selection last season. Britt led the Liberty League with 22 goals and six game-winning goals. She was a All-Liberty League First Team selection and was named Liberty League Tournament MVP after scoring all three Skidmore goals in their 3-2 victory over Hamilton. She was also named a NFHCA Senior All-Star.
 
Senior Casey Tang (Columbia, Md.) earned her second straight first team all-region selection. Tang was an All-Liberty League First Team selection and helped anchor a defense that allowed just 1.38 goals per game. She recorded two goals and an assist this season and has started all 77 games in her career and was named a NFHCA Senior All-Star.
 
Juniors Lauren McCarthy (Ipswich, Mass.) and Katie Potter (Rumson, N.J.) both were selected to the second team all-region. McCarthy was an All-Liberty League Second Team selection after tallying three goals and six assists for 12 points for the Thoroughbreds. Potter was also named to the All-Liberty League Second Team after compiling five goals and nine assists for 19 points in 2009. Both also were named to the Liberty League All-Tournament Team.
